12 Weeks

Today marked the end of a very large chapter for GrainWave studios. It was the last day at The Rust Belt Market in Ferndale, MI. It was, to put it plainly, an extremely rewarding experience. The opportunity pushed me to do things I didn't know that I had in me, and for that I am forever humbled.

Over these few months I have made a great number of things I had never made before. The opportunity inspired creativity, productivity, and great satisfaction.

The thing that really brings warmth to my heart more than anything else is everybody who showed me love and support through these exciting months. I have seen true goodness in loved ones both near and far. There is really nothing I can say to truly express the overflowing feeling of respect for all of you who checked out my space, checked out my work, helped me every step of the way. Big peace and love to all of you, forever.

Thankfully, this is only the end of a single chapter in a very open ended book. For me, it's reading very much like stream-of-consciousness literature. I'm sort of writing it as I go. Inspired by those beautiful people, and beautiful experiences around every corner. Speaking of exciting new experiences... Starting in June, GrainWave Studios will have a new home base in Fort Collins, CO.

Humbled...

Yesterday was a landmark day for me and for GrainWave Studios. It marked the first day of my 12 week stint at the Rust Belt Market in Ferndale. It was a long, but fun few days leading up to the opening. It was a few very late nights filled with sanding, filing, and picture taking.

Despite the on and off snow and rain all day, the flow through the market was friendly and steady. The great rush to display the inventory in the morning proved to be rewarding (thanks to Genevieve). The result was very warm...

The true victory today was not in sales, displays, or traffic. It was in support. The meaning of this posts title is what I refer to here. I would not even dream of jumping head first into this venture if it were not for my close friends and family who show me unparalleled support and encouragement. I love you all endlessly!

7pm rolled around very quickly and when it did, Genevieve and I went out for a celebratory dinner at on of our favorite spots. The amount that Genevieve helps me out and encourages me should not be unrecognized. She put just as much into this as I did. That is a very special thing!

Ohhh glorious Inn Season Cafe...

Here's to a fun and rewarding 12 weeks ahead!

GrainWave Studios Via Rust Belt Market

So far, just as I had hoped, 2014 is proving to be an exciting year. I landed a retail space at The Rust Belt Market in Ferndale, MI. The Rust Belt is a sort of local real-life Etsy. A large warehouse on the corner of the main intersection in downtown Ferndale. It is comprised of in-set booths of different shapes and sizes and housed by over 50 different independent vendors. A lot of planning and hard work and 2 weeks notice went into the space. I am now one short week away from opening for business.

Genevieve and I spent time painting the space and readying it for business.

we decided on a creamy, toasty white and one burnt orange accent wall. The result is very warm and (hopefully) inviting.

I will be carrying a variety of handmade cutting boards...

as well as handmade spoons, light fixtures and lamps. We will also be carrying "Rings By Genevieve". A fun line of handmade wooden rings.

Stay tuned for more updates on the opening!
